Monthly Message for September 2011
September was a tough riding month for our membership. Our monthly bike night was cancelled due to its proximity to the Labor Day weekend. Our monthly bike ride was initially delayed by the Labor Day weekend, then delayed by rain, and was finally completed on the 17th with just two members, Joe Henderson and Raymond So.

Monthly Message for July 2011
This is a very long message, please read to the very end.
July weather has proved great for motorcycle riding, if one doesn’t mind triple digit heat indexes.
On the 2nd, the owners group started out with a ride to Bixby. There was a brief pre-ride briefing describing our destination and the chosen route. We left the starting point at 9AM with a total of 9 motorcycles. Vito led the ride and kept a spirited pace. The group split into 2 groups- fast and very fast. At our turn to Potosi off of MO21, we lost 2 riders. One headed back; the other met us in Bixby. We returned from Bixby after eating. All riders returned in one piece.

A Note from Pete at Moto Europa
Friends of Moto Europa,
We have two fun motorcycle events coming up in July that I would like to invite you to.
First, on Sunday July 3, we will have our second annual Moto Europa picnic and motorcycle riding day at my lodge outside of Hermann, MO. We will have several demo bikes to take out on the roads around the area as well as off road bikes and ATV’s to take on the 8 miles of trails at my lodge. Bring your family, we will have food, drink, and for those who stay late, fireworks. There is also fishing and hiking if you like that sort of thing.
Secondly, on Sunday, July 31, Moto Europa will be hosting Round 7 of the Missouri Hare Scrambles Championship Series, also at my property. We expect over 150 racers and 400 total attendance. I am looking for volunteers to work as course marshals the day of the race. If you or anyone you know is interested in working the event, please let me know. Of course, if you want to come and spectate, that would be great also.
Please let me know if you will be joining us on July 3 as we are trying to get a head count. Directions are as follows: Take Interstate 70 west from Wentzville, MO to exit 175 (about 35 minute drive). At exit 175, head south on Missouri highway 19 towards Hermann for about 7 miles until you reach County Road K. Turn right at County Road K for 5 miles to County Road HH. Turn right and travel almost exactly 3 miles to my property which is listed as 141 Overkamp Road (Note that the last one and a half mile is a gravel road). All in all, it takes about an hour from Wentzville.

MSF Advanced Riders Course Experience
What follows is the promised report of my day at the MSF Advanced Rider Course held at Forest Park Community College on June 18, 2011.
The day started with tornado warnings and heavy downpours. As advertised, we gathered at Tower D by 7:45AM, in a heavy downpour. Once we arrived in the room, we found out that two of the 6 participants’ significant others (husband or otherwise) were going to deliver their motorcycles at the lunch break. The remaining 4 riders rode in the rain.

Monthly Message for June 2011
We held our May bike night at the usual place and time, and attended to the order of business, electing Bob Oesch as our Treasurer. We discussed the upcoming rides, also the various attempts of our riders to prepare their Ducatis for the riding season.
Thunderstorms and rain delayed the official group ride until the last Saturday in May. Vito Sicola led a contingent of 6 riders on a 4-hour ride, with some riders ending the ride at the Triumph Grill. All riders returned safely.

Monthly Message for April 2011
As for motorcycle riding, this April has given us precious few days to go out and engage in our common activity. Lack of riding has not kept the owners group from progressing on other fronts.

Monthly Message for March 2011
The March Bike Night was held at on the 1st at the Triumph Grille. It was well attended, with some members riding in and others (me) driving their cars. After a brief business meeting held during dinner, Mark Oldham from MotoEuropa gave a presentation on suspension settings. The presentation was informative, useful, and well received. Several of the attendees asked good questions and received thoughtful and helpful answers.

Monthly Message for February 2011
Happy February 13, 2011!
As I am writing this note, the sun is beginning to set on a very warm February day.
The riding weather since the 1st of the year has been atrocious. My last ride occurred
on January 29th when Raymond So telephoned me one afternoon and asked if I wanted
to ride. I asked for permission from the boss, was given the OK, and we headed out.
Raymond led us on an 80-mile ride, and we returned in one piece.
