Monthly Message for May 2010

Greetings to all!  I apologize for the tardiness of this message.  Life got in the way.  For the same reason, this update will be brief.

The May 2010 GDOG meeting was held on May 3, 2010 at Pi Restaurant.  It was a Ducatis on Delmar event.  12 people attended.  Significant resolutions included the following:

1- Motogiro event planed for June 6 will not be held due to lack of interest.
2- Attendance at the Springfield Mile will be limited to one or two members for the same reason.
3- Nicolae Bica will host an upcoming meeting at his house, TBD.
4- Carlos Acosta, the Vice President, announced that he will be relocating back to Seattle with his wife later this year.
5- Our next ride, weather permitting, will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
6- Clif Portel volunteered to find a route and lead the July 10 ride.

Vito Sicola led the ride that was held on May 1, 2010.  All riders returned safely.

We are now in the prime riding area in the Gateway region.  Remember, drivers are distracted and tend not see us.  Personally, I have gone to way too many funerals recently, and I do not wish to go to any more for quite awhile.

Many new members have expressed interest in track days, etc.  At this moment, the Gateway Ducati Owners Group does not have the critical mass of membership as well as the expertise to initiate, support, and run such an event.  In this area, the Midwest Café Racing Association (I believe this is the name), MCRA, holds track days and racing.  It is not limited to Ducatis.  Also, a number of our members have purchased track bikes (non-Ducs) and will appreciate our support as they go to the track.

So remember, Group rides on June 5 and July 10.  Springfield mile on the weekend of May 29.

Sincerely,
Gary Kwawer
